Iona, age 90, lives in Fionhphort, Mull. She discusses her family’s experiences on the island in ‘Memories of an Island at War’, a film by Alasdair Satchell, which tells the story of the people of the isles of Mull, Iona, Ulva and Gometra during the Second World War.

Coll, age 15, a member of Mull Youth Theatre. Anne plays on the fiddle of her grandfather Private Johnny Simpson, a prisoner of war in Germany, Stalag IX-C. She performs ‘Private Johnny Simpson’ that she wrote in tribute to her grandfather’s bravery on the same fiddle which he had in the camp along with his Gaelic bible. Room of Reflection. A candle-lit mirrored room where visitors listened to the poem, ‘Freedom Road’ by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage at an Immersive Exhibition held in Maesteg Town Hall.
