Anne plays on the fiddle of her grandfather Private Johnny Simpson, a prisoner of war in Germany, Stalag IX-C. She performs ‘Private Johnny Simpson’ that she wrote in tribute to her grandfather’s bravery on the same fiddle which he had in the camp along with his Gaelic bible. Their remarkable family history is recorded in ‘Memories of an Island at War’, a film by Alasdair Satchel, which tells the story of the people of the isles of Mull, Iona, Ulva and Gometra during the Second World War.
