In a dystopian future Great Britain has become a fascist state (ruled by John Hurt, in an inspired piece of casting after his role as Winston Smith in 1984). Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman) is saved from the secret police by a masked vigilante, V, who has vowed to destroy Parliament, inspire the populace into helping him to bring down the government.

Based on Alan Moore’s groundbreaking graphic novel, V for Vendetta is the perfect way for Eden Court to bring their Cinema Against Fascism season to a close. “There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is freedom to refuse” – David Hume.
