What does freedom mean to us today?

This year marks 80 years since VE Day, and across the country people are reflecting on freedom – past and present – through stories, creativity, and community.

In Deptford, a place rich with history, culture, and everyday acts of resilience, the Albany has been working with students from Deptford Green and Addey and Stanhope to ask the same question. Shoulders of Giants is their local celebration: a joyful afternoon of creativity, performance, and play. Join them for circus workshops, music and activities that celebrate the people and moments that give us strength.

The afternoon will culminate in a one-off, specially created circus performance, with breathtaking skills from the students of the National Centre for Circus Arts, as well as a family-friendly feast. Together, they will create something extraordinary – a celebration of balance, resilience, and community spirit.

Drop in (no ticket needed) and join them!
