This unique film, created by filmmaker Alasdair Satchel, brings together the voices and memories of Mull, weaving an evocative portrait of the island during wartime and in the years that followed VE Day. Archival footage and photographs are interwoven with new images created in An Tobar’s workshop, grounding the history in both past and present.
At the heart of the project are the voices of community members. Their testimonies bring to life the everyday realities of wartime and post-war Mull. These stories are not only remembered but reimagined for a new generation, creating a living archive that honours the island’s shared national heritage.
The screening will be accompanied by a live performance of an original soundtrack, composed and produced by children from the community. Their music, inspired by the voices they have heard, offers a powerful and moving response that bridges generations.
Everyone is warmly invited to come and celebrate the community of Mull.
