Brewhouse Arts Centre marked Our Freedom: Then and Now with a celebration event featuring a specially commissioned poem by Staffordshire Poet Laureate Scarlett Ward and the unveiling of a new installation by artist Jennifer Collier. The evening brought together local audiences to reflect on the project’s themes and to experience newly created work inspired by the question of what freedom means today.

Following the celebration, the touring exhibition opened at Burton Library, showcasing artwork created by workshop participants in response to the project. The exhibition explored the significant role women played in the brewing industry during the Second World War, presenting these stories through newly made pieces alongside work by Jennifer Collier. Scarlett Ward’s commissioned poem also featured as part of the display, offering another creative lens through which to consider the community’s reflections on freedom.

The exhibition remained open from 8 December 2025 to 21 January 2026, giving visitors the opportunity to engage with the artworks, stories and perspectives that emerged from the project.
