Chapter Arts became a hub for Deaf creativity and community connection during Our Freedom, hosting events that celebrated artistic expression, accessibility, and the power of shared stories. Their programme brought together Deaf artists, local audiences, and families to explore freedom through poetry, performance, and hands‑on making.

Celebrating Deaf Voices Through Poetry

Chapter welcomed Maggie Hampton, one of three Deaf artists commissioned to create new work for Our Freedom. Sharing a series of newly devised poems, Maggie explored themes of identity, resilience, and Welsh Deaf culture as part of Deaf Gathering Cymru, marking the first public performance of her new writing.

Inclusive, Drop‑In Artmaking

Artist Kate Evans led a relaxed, drop‑in workshop inviting people of all ages to explore the theme of freedom through drawing, collage, and mixed‑media play. The session offered an open, accessible space for creativity, encouraging visitors to contribute their own reflections to the festival.
