Scunthorpe Central Library & 20-21 Visual Arts Centre are proud to present this remarkable exhibition as part of Our Freedom: Then and Now.

This beautiful remounting by Tenfoot Dance Company of their The Way We Were mass movement piece takes place in wartime North Lincolnshire in the fictional Conesby station.

The project gave the opportunity to cast young local dancers Becky Harbour and Jack Yates who joined Fred Garland and Jon Beney of Tenfoot Dance Company with Ann Turner and a community cast of nearly 200 people and a dog to create this intergenerational piece of dance for film.

It’s a story of love, loss and remembrance reimagined for this important anniversary and filmed in a 1940’s railway station set that was built from scratch in the chancel gallery of 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.

The film screens as part of the exhibition in Scunthorpe Central Library. Housed in the amazing rebuilt set, you can explore photographs from the project alongside art and words from the community on the theme of Our Freedom.

This exhibition demonstrates what can be achieved in a short space of time when people join together. You will have the opportunity to add your own memories and meaning through postcards and workshops.

The launch event will take place on 11 November from 5pm – 7.30pm.
