Awen Cultural Trust is proud to host a special immersive Remembrance event at Maesteg Town Hall, marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

The Voices of Freedom event will be preceded by workshops in libraries across Bridgend County. Led by associate artist and craftivist Nazeem Syed, local community members will create artworks that will be included in the Maesteg Town Hall art installation.

Voices of Freedom in Maesteg Town Hall will feature a number of immersive installations, created by award-winning company 4Pi Productions. The custom-made installations will be based in the historic auditorium of Maesteg Town Hall, creating an interactive and thought-provoking experience around the theme of Freedom.

The installations will include local voices, recounting wartime memories and reflecting on the theme of Freedom. And there will be an opportunity for visitors to reflect on their thoughts on freedom, too.

This free, accessible event will offer an immersive and reflective opportunity for people to come together to mark this year’s Remembrance.

Open from 12pm – 5pm Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November, and 1pm – 5pm on Tuesday 11 November (please note Monday 10 is for pre-booked school visits only – no public access).
