The Our Freedom: Then & Now exhibition at The McKechnie Institute, Girvan will feature a brand new piece of music by Primary 6-7 pupils from Sacred Heart Primary School, working with Simon Lamb (Writer) and Davie Hunter (Singer), and informed by workshops with The Girvan & District Great War Project.

The exhibition will feature visual, written, and recorded responses to the question ‘What does freedom mean to you?’. The new music will be acquired into the collections of both The McKechnie Institute, Rozelle House (Accredited Collection) and South Ayrshire Libraries, to be available as a prompt to read, learn, and perform. Performances will also be photographed, filmed, and go on tour to other local schools in 2026.

You’re warmly invited to view the exhibition between Saturday 29 November 2025 – Saturday 14 February 2026.
