Join Lawrence Batley Theatre for Our Freedom, a celebratory performance representing what freedom means to us.

Freedom Road, the specially commissioned poem by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, has been the inspiration for groups and artists across the local community to come together and create images, music, dance and drama to reflect what freedom means to them – both in 1945 and now in 2025.

The Sikh Soldiers Organisation, Ukrainian Friendship Group, IASK (Immigration and Asylum Support Kirklees) and 6 million+ will be sharing their art and performances, and you will also learn more about the exciting national programme Our Freedom: Then and Now.

This is a free event and there is no need to book, all are welcome. Any donations received on the day will go to the Welcome Centre.
